1. Article: US SCHOOLS FACE PERFECT STORM
When I watched this video I had mixed emotions. At the beginning of this video, I felt like this lady was being very biased towards teachers, and being on their side. I don't agree with how she was saying all of the teachers are qualified and the union is in good shape. I believe that some teachers, should just not be teachers. Certain teachers are under qualified, and don't know what their talking about. Most of the times students struggle because of their previous teachers. Because teachers get tenure. it is hard to get rid of the teachers. Once teachers get tenure, they tend to slack off and do things their own way without really caring for the students. If their was reevaluations every year, then teachers would always be on their best behavior. On the other hand, I do agree with her idea in the public school funding. I do believe that their is a problem in this system. There are people on the bored that don't know what he/she is talking about. These people don't know what the school systems are like and don't spend the money properly. Children in public schools today are suffering from their education, and the government needs to do a lot more then the no child left behind act. This is a major problem in U.S. society because this is are future. We need to educate the children now in such a way, that will benefit are country in the long run.
2. Article:Does a Higher Minimum Wage Reduce Jobs?
When I watched this video, I agreed for the most part, and all of the aspects of it. I thought it was interesting that a higher minimum wage didn't affect the job industry, and the amount of people that were hired. It's kind of interesting, because I always felt that if a company were to pay their workers with a higher wage, their number of employment would have to go down, however this isn't true. I couldn't understand when the reporter explained that higher wages wouldn't affect the economy, but I believe that it would have a huge affect on it, in many different ways. Also I couldn't believe that it wouldn't affect employment rates, and it would only make sense for it to rise. The only other thing that I disagreed on was the reporter said that if minimum wage were to rise then the costs of items would rise as well. Then he mentioned that society would be ok with this if they were getting a better quality of things, and better quality of people working. I don't agree with this moral at all because I believe that at no matter what a person does, they should work equally as hard. This is only teaching bad work ethics and as if everything has to be for a reason rather then self pride.
3. Article: Las Vegas Loses Shine Due To Unemployment
This video really amazed me when I watched it. I would have never guessed in a million years that Las Vegas would have one of the highest unemployment rate within the country. Las Vegas was always the city that people went to to have a great time, and have a lot of fun. However now it seems to be loosing the sparkle that it once had on people. I believe that if what the video said, were to be true, that the economy would be hurting greatly. I couldn't believe that casinos had to stop being built because there was no money, along with gambling being the lowest it has been in years. This could eventually cause a major problem in American society, and should not be bi-passed, or overlooked. I can't understand how unemployment can be so low in such a big city that is well know all over the world. The government needs to look at this problem in greater detail, and try to figure out what the core, or center of this problem is, and discover where this problem is stemming from. This city is to great to let it fall apart and become a ghost town.
4. Article: Black Voters 'Losing Faith' in Obama
When I saw this video, it really made be understand how people feel towards Obama. Obama promised to help and meet peoples financial needs, but in reality people believe that he had done nothing. I now think, after watching this video, that Obama will loose a lot of his votes because his lack of support for the families who really needed him. I think that this will really hurt the democratic party, and will show up in the upcoming election. I was surprised at the fact that people will just not vote because they are fed up with Obama. A person shouldn't not vote because they don't like the current person, but rather vote on a person that he/she believes will get the job done. I believe that people are putting to much pressure on Obama to make changes, and in reality he/she hasn't given him enough time to see these changes. The thought however did cross my mind, did Obama really just make all of these promises just to get elected as president, or will he meet these standards on his remaining years as president? I guess us as American citizens will just have to wait and see what Obama will do, before we judge him. This video might be a good indicator of what will happen in the future, and based on that, the future won't look so bright for Obama.
5. Article: Decline in Canada polar bears
As I watched this video, it amazed me at how many problems could go wrong if these polar bears were to be endangered. Because of global warming, the polar bears don't have any food supply, due to the fact of the lakes not being frozen. I believe that society is entirely in the blame for this problem. Global warming, in my opinion is happening because of human behaviors, and how we all neglect the earth in many different aspects. I agree with the video in the fact that the water is freezing at a later point each year, and is one of the main causes of these polar bears to starve. The whole ecosystem could get messed up if the polar bears were to be extincted, and this would effect humans in many different ways. I believe that measures have to be taken to stop this from happening. I also believe that global warming is far more important then people believe. Global warming is more then just warmer climates for people to enjoy, but it is something that could potentially harm the lives of many animals in the ecosystem.
6. Article: Operation Payback Is A Level Of Cyber Attack We Have Not Seen Before
I thought this article was very interesting. I couldn't believe that the internet has become so unsafe. I also couldn't believe that certain companies are being shut down because of all of these internet hackers. People are getting passed the security of many websites, and I feel like this could be a major issue in the internet world. This being said, it kind of scares me. A lot of people use social networking, for example facebook, myspace, or twitter. If the security systems were unsafe, millions of people could be harmed by this. I for one have a facebook, and it makes me a little nervous that people could be hacking into it and getting information about me. This is something that could take down the internet potentially. I also can't understand why people hack the internet. I wish that the internet was safe how it was made to do. I also wish that the internet was used to look up important information, but it has turned into something much more. The internet is a scary place, and i believe that it has become a lot bigger then it was supposed to be.
7. Article: 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Repeal Passes Historic Senate Vote
In this video, I thought that both of the people that were speaking were very strong individuals. The words that came out of their mouths were extremely well said. I agree with the fact that anyone should be allowed to serve this country. Regardless of the religion, race, gender, or sexual orientation everyone should be allowed to fight for America, and the innocent people that live here. I agree with the article 100% because in my opinion, if anyone wants to fight for America, he/she should be allowed to. I can't understand why a gay person would be turned down from the military. Sometimes the idea of a draft comes into conversation, so why is the military turning down all of these people that actually want to serve? This is something I could never understand, however I was very happy when I was watching this video and was able to see that the government is trying its hardest to change these military issues.
8. Article: What's with the Extreme Weather?
When I was watching this article, it kind of made me more confused about global warming. There was so many opinions within the video, I couldn't really tell the overall mood of the whole article. I believe that global warming could potentially be a problem in today's society, and should not be bi passed. Many people that global warming will cause flooding throughout the earth because of the melting ice bergs. Although many people believe this, I do not. God promised to all people that he would never destroy the earth, and all the living creators. I know this is true because of all the rainbows. The rainbow is a sign of God's promise, and I know that he will keep the earth safe. I think that many people don't believe this theory. As for the people that do believe, he/she is more likely to be religious, and/or a believer in God. The controversy of global warming is a continuing problem, and I believe will be a topic that will never be forgotten.
9. Article: Most Minimum Wage Earners Can't Afford Necessities of LIfe
At the beginning of this video, I was shocked to find out that 14-15% of American's population is living in poverty. To me that's a very high number, and is a scary thought to think about! Also something I couldn't believe is this has to do with the minimum wage within America. In the video there was talks about raising the minimum wage, however I do not believe this could necessarily be a positive thing. If this happens then people that make above minimum wage will soon be making about the same as a person that doesn't have as good of a job as them, or does not work as hard. I don't think it's fair to the other people that are working hard right now. On the other hand, I do think the program that is trying to get people off of welfare is very positive. I think the more people America has off of welfare the better this country will be doing economically, and the more money the government will have to spend on things to better American society, as well as local communities.
10. Article: Brazil struggles with flood recovery
The fact that there was a major flood in Brazil is frightning. It really scares me how I didn't even know about this disaster. This makes me realize that I have to be more updated on current events, and more involved in my community. I also realized, while watching this video, how lucky I truly am. I have all of the basic needs in life and everything more. I think more people should be involved in current events, and give back to the people that are in these tough situations. I also couldn't believe how many people are missing because of this disaster. The video stated about 700 people are missing, and that's about two grades in my high school. If that many people were missing in my home town, the schools would be so empty. The video said that whole familes are missing, and would make that 700 number go much higher. I can't believe how hard this situation must be in Brazil, and I think as a society we must come together and help these troubled citizens.
11. Article: Video Essay: Long-term Unemployment in Nevada
In a previous blog, I had watched a video on the unemployment of Las Vegas. That blog was done a couple of months ago. The fact that this problem isn't getting any better, but rather worse, scares me a lot. I believe that this is a serious issue and should not be taken so lightly any more. because many construction has declined in these areas in Nevada, endless amounts of people are loosing his/her jobs. Although this is the way I believe, I did not agree with the things that the lady in the video was doing. She had a nice size home with everything she needed and more. The lady was complaining about not being able to survive and she had so many expensive items that she was using in her house. This family could always move to a place where the living is cheaper and more of what they need than what they want. On the other hand, this might just be how I was brought up. My parents would only get my brothers and I things that we needed to live, and be thankful for everything we got extra. People today do not realize how lucky he/she really are.
12. Article: Libya oil tanks seen as 'time bomb'
When I watched this video I thought it was unbelievable. I can not even imagine what it must be like living in Libya at this time. Anyone 15 kilometers away from the plant will die if an attack is made. The thing that got me the most in this video was that there were only 10 more people working in the whole plant. All of the others were scared away. The guy that was interviewed seemed to not really be affected by the threat of an attack, however if that were me, I do not think I could handle working in that place. It must be so scary working in a place that could blow up any second. I did not even know this was going on in the world and I am happy that I got to see this and get the change to blog about it. I wish I could be more connected to current events on the world. It makes me realize how lucky every American is to be living in a place like we do. We are safe and all can live and work in a safe environment.
13. Article:Debate: Is US Nuclear Power Safe?
I think this video is very opinion based. It also made me understand in more detail what exactly is going on in Japan right now. It is scary to believe that there are so many people weather old or young that are being exposed to high radiation. This has been making American's scared and concerned if something like this would ever happen to him/her. To be completely honest, this scares me a lot. Radiation is something that is extremely deadly and should not be taken lightly. It scares me a lot that this happened in Japan because I live within the twenty mile radius of a nuclear power plant. This means if the same thing were to happen to this nuclear power plant as the one in Japan, My life would be at risk. I can't imagine what the people are going through right now. The people that are being exposed to these high numbers of radiation can't even receive the proper help because people are scared to get radiation. I can only thank God for blessing me in this situation.
14. Article:Census: One in Six Americans are Hispanic
I was shocked when I watched this video and discovered that one in every six Americans are Hispanic. I knew there was a growing number of Hispanic's in the American population, however I had no idea there were that many. I also could not believe that America has become so low and started to racial profile Hispanic's. I do not believe it is fair to judge someone by the way he/she looks. This makes me wonder if there were a European illegal immigrant and a Hispanic one that was legal what the government would say. I believe that the government wouldn't even stop the European immigrant but rather stop the Hispanic one and question him/her. This says a lot about what America has become as an overall society. It is not fair to judge a book by its cover; and that has been know since early ages. As a country we should all question ourselves and really think about what we are all doing to these people that are just like us.
15. Article: Radiation from Japan Disaster reaches 14 U.S. States - EPA Report
It's scary to think that the disaster that had happened in Japan could just as easily happen in America. American's seem to believe that everything here is perfect and nothing could possibly go wrong. It is frightening to realize that the EPA is not fully functioning. It is a good thing that all these tests are being done to America's nuclear power plants, however these tests are not fully functional. This is not comforting to realize that the EPA is not doing all of the work that is required to be done. It is also unsettling to realize that some of the power plants in America are located in place that could have earthquakes at any time. I can only imagine how terrible it must be to loose everything. The people who must be affected the most by something like this happening is children. Children are being exposed to radiation that cause cancer and life changing situations. Something has to be done in America to make a change. I live in a 20 mile radius of a nuclear power plant and this scares me to believe that what's going on in Japan could be happening right now where I live.
16. Article: Expert: Radioactive Food Inevitable, Manageable? This video is extremely unbelievable to
17. Article: Obama On Birth Certificate - Full Video I completely agree with President Obama in this argument. I think that Americans are worrying to much over the fact whether Obama was born in America or not. Right now there are too many negative things that are going on in this world to worry about this. People are making a mountain out of a mole hill and are not focusing on things that are truly a problem. If people put as much effort as they are towards this minute problem to the actually crises of today, than things would actually be solved and answered. I can not understand what are country has become today and it makes me scared to even think about what it will become when I get older. People always point fingers at everyone else and can never take the blame for his/her own actions and that is what I believe has happened to Obama in this video.
18. Article: Privacy in the Digital Age: Marc Rotenberg on Public Outrage of Privacy Breaches by Sony, Apple & Google Phones Watching this video I started to worry about my own safety. I myself have an android phone and use some of the location devices on my phone. If my security is at risk than I do not know what the benefit of this phone is. I believe that if this continues to be a growing problem than the sale of these phones will drop tremendously. Hopefully they will fix this glitch in the system and not have to worry about a decrease in sales. I think the technology today is amazing. The fact that a phone can do all of these things and work as a tracking device is mind boggling. Since I grew up in this time of technology, I always wonder what my life would be like without a cell phone. I would be terrified if this location finder were to become a serious problem and I would have to give up my cell phone. I would be lost with out it! This just shows how much society has changed over this past decade and how advanced technology has become.
19. Article: The Trump Doctrine: How Dummies Bankrupt A Brand
I thought this video was extremely funny because it was so true. I thought that the people that made this video were brilliant because they were able to make lite of societies issues. I believe that Donald Trump is playing the media to his advantage. He has always cared about his brand name and sticking his label on everything. I believe running for president is just another way for Donald to stick his name on something else. In the video there was also a mention about Obama's birth certificate. American's were worrying so much about his certificate that they forgot about the real problems in today's society. We tend to loose focus as a nation on situations that truly matter. I feel as if we need to have a good stern leader that will finally turn this nation around. It has been too long with out direction and this must change. As a society we can change this and it will only be for the better.
20. Article: Apocalypse Now: American radio preacher predicts doomsday (again)
When I walked into school last Monday I heard all this talk about the world ending. I thought that it was just another person trying to scare the world into believing the end was near but I was false. The person that had said all of this to be true was a radio preacher. I was so shocked at this because how could a preacher say such a thing? In my religious beliefs not a single sol knows when the world is going to end, not even Jesus. In the video, there was a young lady that had spoken about how she lives every day as if it is her last. I completely agree with her because since no one knows when the end of time is, you should always live life to its fullest potential.
21. Article: New Tornadoes Rattle Nerves, Leave Damage in Missouri
It is so unbelievable to watch this video and see that people are actually going through this. There was recently a tornado at my upstate house while I was here. It was the most scariest thing that had ever happened to me. Luckily no one got hurt, and there was no serious damage. There was a couple of trees on houses and all over the world, however that does not matter because everyone was safe. This just makes me realize how lucky I am to survive this. The people in Missouri must be going through so much more than I am and it is so hard to connect to the levels of pain that they are going through. I could not believe how positive the women at the end of this video was towards all of the situations. If I ever went through something like the people of Missouri just went through, I would want my outlook to be just like hers.
22. Article: Call to Decriminalise Drugs
When I watched this video I had mixed emotions. I am so unsure whether it is a good thing to legalize drugs or not. I have some idea that if drugs were legalized, than the percentage of people using these drugs might actually decline. This is not certain however. Although these numbers of illegal drug users would decrease I do not know how much of a positive thing this is. It would say a lot about are country if drugs were legalized. Would government officials be giving in and not looking at all aspects of this tough situation? This is all things and problems that have to be taken into account while dealing with these issues. I hope the government will be able to work this situation out and be able to make the right decision based off what is best for the American public.

States - EPA ReportIt's scary to think that the disaster that had happened in Japan could just as easily happen in America.
This video is extremely unbelievable to
17. Article: Obama On Birth Certificate - Full Video
I completely agree with President Obama in this argument.
18. Article: Privacy in the Digital Age: Marc Rotenberg on Public Outrage of Privacy Breaches by Sony, Apple & Google Phones
Watching this video I started to worry about my own safety.
